Meaning and Explanation

  1. Allahumma inni a’udhu bika (اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ): This means “O Allah, I seek refuge in You.”
  2. Min an ushrika bika shai’an (مِنْ أَنْ أُشْرِكَ بِكَ شَيْئًا): This means “From associating partners with You in anything.”
  3. Wa ana a’lamu bihi (وَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ بِهِ): This means “And I know it.”
  4. Wa astaghfiruka lima la a’lamu bihi (وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا لَا أَعْلَمُ بِهِ): This means “And I seek forgiveness from You for what I do not know.”
  5. Tubtu anhu (تُبْتُ عَنْهُ): This means “I repent from it.”
  6. Wa tabarra’tu min al-kufri (وَتَبَرَّأْتُ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ): This means “And I disassociate myself from disbelief.”
  7. Wash-shirki (وَالشِّرْكِ): This means “And associating partners with You.”
  8. Wal-kazibi (وَالْكَذِبِ): This means “And lying.”
  9. Wal-ghiibi (وَالْغِيبِ): This means “And backbiting.”
  10. Wal-bid’ati (وَالْبِدْعَةِ): This means “And innovation in religion.”
  11. Wa min as-sama’i (وَمِنَ السَّمَاءِ): This means “And from the sky.”
  12. Wal-basari (وَالْبَصَرِ): This means “And from the sight.”
  13. Wal-batni (وَالْبَطْنِ): This means “And from the stomach.”
  14. Wal-lisan (وَاللِّسَانِ): This means “And from the tongue.”
  15. Wa min jami’i ma ya’ti min al-asdi (وَمِنْ جَمِيعِ مَا يَأْتِي مِنَ الْأَسْدِ): This means “And from all that comes from the lion.”
  16. Wa ar-riyahi (وَالرِّيَاحِ): This means “And from the winds.”
  17. Wal-mihali (وَالْمِحَالِ): This means “And from the places.”
  18. Wal-azhami (وَالْأَظْهَارِ): This means “And from the times.”

Summary

The Sixth Kalma is a request to Allah that begs Allah’s pardon from confusion in belief, numerous sins, and the association of partners with Him. A statement of forgiveness and dissociation from fraud and creativity is also included. Muslims recite it to ask Allah for mercy and defense.
